DAY 15: Sunday, March 23, Relocating to Paris

 PARIS

And saying goodbye to London

Leaving from St. Pancras International
(This is an AI interpretation of the station.)

While waiting, I started to read this book. Some of the key scenes take
place only steps from here: King's Cross and St. Pancras.

After going through border control, there was this mess again.

But soon I was back on the Eurostar, headed to Paris.
This was my last glimpse of England, most likely forever,
before going into the Chunnel.

I took a taxi from Gare du Nord. The ride was harrowing.
Soon I was here, thank heaven, a lovely hotel on the Left Bank.

My view

I love this room.

There is a secret door to the bathroom .

Spacious compared to the London hotel.

I have a doorbell.

I went next door for dinner and had onion soup followed by
a creme brulee. The waiter said my French was "parfaite." It
was not. It was pathetic. Two women sitting next to me were laughing up
their sleeves, their snooty French sleeves. Truly, I need to come
up with a strategy for feeding myself. I'm not sure I can stand daily
humiliation while ordering food.

In the meantime, I'm right where I should be.

  2. That looks fabulous! You’ll never see those folks at the restaurant again so who cares if they enjoyed your attempts at French. At least you were trying! I love your room!!!!! Dolores

  3. OOOhhh love the room. The bed looks comfy and there looks to be a familiar shower head instead of a tub. Thanks for sharing. Find the brioche and take more pics. Robin
