Early Renaissance Art and Modern Theatre
I stopped making rude gestures at the coffee maker in my room and went to the National Gallery to see a special exhibit, Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300-1350. I loved it. Here are a few pieces.

I then went to a play nearby at the Harold Pinter Theatre. The Years, based on Annie Ernaux's memoir, was simply sensational.

Manet's The Execution of Maximilian
After Manet's death, his family cut up the canvas and sold individual fragments separately. Degas acquired the surviving fragments, and the National Gallery bought them in 1918. They were finally combined on one canvas in the late 1970s.
